Thinking through what the business needs next
Hinata works with owners of small firms on the decisions that sit on the desk and stay there. Not broad frameworks — specific conversations about your actual situation.
Get in touchWhat we offer
Practical support for the decisions that don't have an obvious answer
Most small business owners are capable people who rarely need to be told what good looks like. What they sometimes lack is time to think clearly, a second perspective on something that feels complicated, or a structured way to work through a transition.
That's where Hinata is useful. Sessions are arranged around the owner's immediate concerns, not a standard curriculum. Preparation is modest. Follow-through is part of what's included.
How this works for you
Three things owners say they value most
Time that stays on track
Sessions are scoped before they happen. You decide what gets covered. That keeps things from drifting and makes an afternoon worth the effort.
A perspective that isn't internal
Someone who has worked across different sectors and firms can often see the shape of a problem more clearly, not because they know more, but because they're not inside it.
Notes that mean something afterwards
Written summaries with agreed next steps circulated after each session. Not a transcript — a record of what was decided and who does what.
The process
What happens from first contact to follow-up
01
Initial conversation
A short call to understand what you're working on and whether a session would be useful. No commitment at this stage.
02
Preparation
You share a short written summary of what you'd like to cover. Hinata reviews any figures or materials relevant to the session.
03
The session
Structured around your priorities. The session moves at your pace, with space to think as well as discuss.
04
Follow-through
Written notes and a follow-up conversation four weeks later are included. This keeps things from stalling after a good session.
Background
Work grounded in real firm experience
Hinata draws on work across retail, professional services, light manufacturing, and family-owned firms in the Tokyo consulting and Chugoku region. Sessions are conducted in English, with working familiarity in Japanese business contexts.
The focus has consistently been on firms under twenty staff — the size where the owner still makes most decisions personally and where outside input tends to be scarce. That narrow focus shapes what we do and how sessions are structured.

If something feels stuck, it's worth a conversation
The first step is a short conversation to understand what you're working on. There's no obligation and no fixed agenda — just a chance to see whether a session would be useful.
